DANIEL FRONTZ (Chip) is thrilled to return to the Benedum, where he has played several roles with the Pittsburgh Opera, including Trouble in Madama Butterfly. After playing Tiny Tim in Pittsburgh CLO’s A Musical Christmas Carol, Daniel is looking forward to this new opportunity to be part of Pittsburgh CLO’s Summer Season. Daniel will be a sixth grade theater arts major at Pittsburgh CAPA this fall, and will also continue his studies at Pittsburgh CLO Academy. He also sings with the Pittsburgh Boy Choir.
JESSICA GROVÉ (Belle) returns to Pittsburgh CLO after appearances as Laurey in Oklahoma! (with Shirley Jones) and Ariel in Disney’s The Little Mermaid. Broadway: Les Misérables (Eponine), Thoroughly Modern Millie (Miss Dorothy), Sunday in the Park With George and A Little Night Music. She starred as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz (Madison Square Garden/national tour with Mickey Rooney and Eartha Kitt) and as Polly in The Boy Friend (national tour, directed by Julie Andrews). JEFFREY HOWELL (Maurice) was most recently seen in Pittsburgh CLO's productions of Titanic and Brigadoon. Jeff’s credits include more than 80 Pittsburgh CLO productions. Other recent projects were Citizens Market at City Theatre and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum at the Pittsburgh Public Theater. JAMES SNYDER (Beast) has cultivated a following at Pittsburgh CLO after star turns as Elvis in Million Dollar Quartet and Lt. Cable in South Pacific. Mr. Snyder is best known for his roles in Broadway’s If/Then, In Transit and Cry-Baby for which he received a Drama League Nomination. He has been seen in regional productions of Casa Valentina, Rock of Ages, Ever After, Carousel, Fanny and Johnny Baseball. Mr. Snyder has sung at Carnegie Hall with the NY Pops and with the Hartford Symphony. He has appeared on TV and the big screen in The Good Wife, Gilmore Girls, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and She’s The Man, among many others.

ALEX DORF (Salt, Ensemble) is returning to Pittsburgh CLO this summer, after performing in Disney's Newsies and Mamma Mia! last year! He’s eager to spend some more time in Pittsburgh and perform on the Benedum stage. A graduate of Penn State, Alex’s recent credits include Mamma Mia! (Ogunquit Playhouse), Gypsy and Big River (Sharon Playhouse), and some performances at Feinstein’s/54 Below in NYC.
COURTNEY ECHOLS (Ensemble) is thrilled to make her Pittsburgh CLO debut! She was seen recently in Beauty and the Beast at Fulton Theatre/The Muny, Jesus Christ Superstar (Mary Magdalene) and West Side Story (Rosalia) at Woodstock Playhouse. TION GASTON (Ensemble) is an undergraduate student at Point Park University majoring in Dance. His pursuit in the dance world is what led him to Point Park University studying various different genres of dance. Tion is thrilled to make his debut in Pittsburgh CLO's 2018 Summer Season. He would like to thank the cast, company, and his family/friends on his new adventure.
JAMARY GIL (Ensemble) is a dance major and musical theater minor at Point Park University. She has performed pieces choreographed by John Heginbotham, Julliard School alum. She is assistant Choreographer for the Scranton High School Choirs, the only competitive traveling choir in Pennsylvania. Classically trained, she studies Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Tap, and Contemporary dance and is self-taught on guitar and piano.

JAMES CUNNINGHAM (Musical Director) is thrilled to return for his second season as music director for Pittsburgh CLO. New York: Avenue Q (conductor), music director for Bunnicula (TheaterworksUSA and original cast recording) and Happy Birthday (TACT). National Tours: Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, Spamalot, Evita and Cats. Regionally, he has conducted productions for Arena Stage, Casa Mañana, North Carolina Theatre, Sharon Playhouse, Shakespeare Theatre Company, The Engeman Theater, Paper Mill Playhouse, The Muny and Cape Fear Regional Theatre. He holds degrees from Manhattan School of Music and New York University.
J BRANSON (Scenic Designer) is a Chicago-based designer who began his career as a student Apprentice at Music Theatre Wichita more than 30 years ago. Credits for MTW include: Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hairspray, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Mary Poppins (also for the Walnut Street Theatre), Legally Blonde, and Disney’s The Little Mermaid. National tour credits: The Music Man, Beauty and the Beast, and Brigadoon. Recent work includes A Christmas Story at the Walnut Street Theatre.

TIIA TORCHIA LAGER (Costume Designer) is the Costume Studio Manager at Carnegie Mellon University. She moved to Pittsburgh 4 years ago after spending 17 years in New York City running the Costume Shops for several Off-Broadway theaters. During summers, she spent many years at Music Theatre of Wichita in various positions including Costume Shop Manager and Costume Designer for such shows as Beauty and the Beast.

HOWARD ASHMAN (Lyrics) Best known as a pivotal creative mind behind the renaissance of Disney animation and his work on The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Beauty and The Beast. Ashman was a founder of Off-Off-Broadway's renowned WPA Theater, where he conceived, wrote and directed God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater, as well as the classic musical, Little Shop of Horrors (both music by Alan Menken). In 1986, he wrote and directed the Broadway musical Smile (music by Marvin Hamlisch). Lamented as a lost treasure of the 1980's theater scene, Smile remains popular on High School and College campuses throughout the country.
TIM RICE (Lyrics) Tim Rice has worked in music, theater, and film since 1965, when he met Andrew Lloyd Webber. Their first collaboration, The Likes Of Us, was an unsuccessful show based on the life of Dr. Barnardo. Their future works were much more successful: Joseph…, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Evita. Tim has worked with other distinguished composers such as Elton John, Alan Menken, Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson. He formed his own cricket team in 1973 and was president of the MCC in 2002. In 2013, he wrote and presented a 52-part series for BBC Radio 2, American Pie. He has won several awards, mainly for the wrong thing or for simply turning up.
LINDA WOOLVERTON (Book) Writing credits include Beauty and the Beast (Golden Globe winner and Academy Award Best Picture nominee); the screenplay (shared) for Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey; screenplay (shared) for the animated feature film The Lion King; the book for Beauty and the Beast (Tony Award nomination for Best Book of a Musical, winner 1998 Olivier Award Best New Musical); and book (shared) for Elton John and Tim Rice's Broadway musical Aida. She has written two young-adult novels, Star Wind and Running Before the Wind. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband Lee Flicker and daughter Keaton. DANIEL FRONTZ (Chip) is thrilled to return to the Benedum, where he has played several roles with the Pittsburgh Opera, including Trouble in Madama Butterfly. After playing Tiny Tim in Pittsburgh CLO’s A Musical Christmas Carol, Daniel is looking forward to this new opportunity to be part of Pittsburgh CLO’s Summer Season. Mr. Snyder is best known for his roles in Broadway’s If/Then, In Transit and Cry-Baby for which he received a Drama League Nomination. He has been seen in regional productions of Casa Valentina, Rock of Ages, Ever After, Carousel, Fanny and Johnny Baseball. JAMARY GIL (Ensemble) is a dance major and musical theater minor at Point Park University. She has performed pieces choreographed by John Heginbotham, Julliard School alum. She is assistant Choreographer for the Scranton High School Choirs, the only competitive traveling choir in Pennsylvania. Classically trained, she studies Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Tap, and Contemporary dance and is self-taught on guitar and piano.

HOWARD ASHMAN (Lyrics) Best known as a pivotal creative mind behind the renaissance of Disney animation and his work on The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Beauty and The Beast. Ashman was a founder of Off-Off-Broadway's renowned WPA Theater, where he conceived, wrote and directed God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater, as well as the classic musical, Little Shop of Horrors (both music by Alan Menken). In 1986, he wrote and directed the Broadway musical Smile (music by Marvin Hamlisch). Lamented as a lost treasure of the 1980's theater scene, Smile remains popular on High School and College campuses throughout the country.
TIM RICE (Lyrics) Tim Rice has worked in music, theater, and film since 1965, when he met Andrew Lloyd Webber. Their first collaboration, The Likes Of Us, was an unsuccessful show based on the life of Dr. Barnardo. Their future works were much more successful: Joseph…, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Evita. Tim has worked with other distinguished composers such as Elton John, Alan Menken, Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson. He formed his own cricket team in 1973 and was president of the MCC in 2002. In 2013, he wrote and presented a 52-part series for BBC Radio 2, American Pie. He has won several awards, mainly for the wrong thing or for simply turning up.
LINDA WOOLVERTON (Book) Writing credits include Beauty and the Beast (Golden Globe winner and Academy Award Best Picture nominee); the screenplay (shared) for Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey; screenplay (shared) for the animated feature film The Lion King; the book for Beauty and the Beast (Tony Award nomination for Best Book of a Musical, winner 1998 Olivier Award Best New Musical); and book (shared) for Elton John and Tim Rice's Broadway musical Aida. She has written two young-adult novels, Star Wind and Running Before the Wind. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband Lee Flicker and daughter Keaton.
