Pittsburgh CLO Alumni
Celebrating Success
Pittsburgh CLO has been home to thousands of
talented performers and hundreds more industry
professionals who direct, stage manage and
choreograph its Broadway-quality productions. The
impressive list of artists who have worked on the
CLO stage includes Tony Award®-winners Sutton
Foster, Kathleen Marshall and Victoria Clark as well
as Academy Award®-winning director Rob Marshall.
It is nearly impossible to turn the pages of a
Broadway playbill today without inding the name Sutton Foster
of a CLO alumnus. In fact, six Pittsburgh CLO
alumni were nominated for Tony Awards® this year,
including Tony Yazbeck, a Point Park University
alumnus nominated for Best Actor in a Leading
Role in a Musical. Pittsburgh CLO has served as a
training ground for thousands of musical theater
artists and has launched the careers of several of
the musical theater industry’s inest. This extensive
network of theater professionals continues to pave
the way for the future of the American musical.
The outstanding list of Tony Award®-winning CLO
alumni also includes 2013 award-winner Billy
Porter who received the Tony Award® for his
starring role as Lola in Kinky Boots. A Pittsburgh
native, Billy performed as a CLO Mini Star and
appeared in Dreamgirls on the Pittsburgh CLO
stage. He will reprise his award-winning role in
Pittsburgh CLO’s Kinky Boots this August right here
on the Benedum Center stage.
In addition to many having success on the Great Billy Porter at the 2013 Tony Awards®
White Way, Pittsburgh CLO alumni have gone on
to great success in television and ilm. Recently,
Rob Ashford choreographed the 2013 and 2014
Academy Awards® telecast. Rob is also a Broadway
veteran and Tony®-nominated director and Tony®-
winning choreographer. He is an alumnus of Point
Park University and began his career as a member
of the Pittsburgh CLO ensemble.
