Join Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim and a host of colorful characters for a remarkable CLO holiday production of A MUSICAL CHRISTMAS CAROL. With dazzling special effects, holiday charm and ticket prices even Scrooge would approve of, this Charles Dickens classic is a wonderful way to celebrate all the tradition of the season. PATRICK PAGE (Ebenezer Scrooge) returns to Pittsburgh CLO after starring as Ebenezer Scrooge last year in A Musical Christmas Carol and as Fagin in Oliver! Broadway: Casa Valentina, Time to Kill, Spring Awakening, Cyrano De Bergerac,  Spider-Man, Man for All Seasons, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Julius Caesar, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and The Kentucky Cycle. New York: Hadestown (NYTW), Cymbeline, The Sound of Music, A Christmas Carol at Madison Square Garden, The Duchess of Malfi, Richard II and Rex. Recent roles: Lady Bird Johnson-Tea for Three, Queen Elizabeth II-The Audience, Mother Superior-Sister Act, Mrs. Eynsford Hill-My Fair Lady (Pittsburgh Public Theatre). Pgh CLO Productions: Oliver!, The Full Monty, Music Man, and Sound of Music. Favorite roles: Abigail-1776, Roxy-Chicago, Anita-West Side Story, Charity-Sweet Charity, Diana Morales-A Chorus Line. JUSTIN FORTUNATO (Fred, Businessman) is honored to be returning to A Musical Christmas Carol for his sixth year. Credits include: Pittsburgh Public Theater, PICT, St. Vincent Summer Theatre, the REP, Pittsburgh CLO, Primestage and Dream Catcher Theatre. He is currently the Producing Artistic Director of Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center. He is a proud member of Actor’s Equity Association.  

DANIEL FRONTZ (Tiny Tim) is excited to make his PIttsburgh CLO debut. Other credits include Trouble in both Pittsburgh Opera and Undercroft Opera productions of Madama Butterfly and Stage 62’s The Music Man. Daniel is a fifth grader at PPS Montessori and a student at CLO Academy. When not onstage, Daniel enjoys playing with his siblings, reading, and singing with the Pittsburgh Boy Choir.

LISA ANN GOLDSMITH (Mrs. Cratchit) is back for her seventh year! Recent credits include Windfall at Arkansas Rep (directed by Seinfeld's Jason Alexander). Lisa Ann has appeared locally and regionally with such companies as Pittsburgh CLO, Pittsburgh Public Theater, Primary Stages, Theatre by the Sea and Human Race Theatre Company. She is thrilled to be playing Mary Travers (of Peter Paul & Mary) in the upcoming feature film 116 Macdougal.

BRITTANY GRAHAM (Caroler, Party Guest, Poorhouse Guest, Spirit at Window) is delighted to rejoin the cast of A Musical Christmas Carol. This is her sixth year with the production. Brittany’s credits include: The Musical of Musicals, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Sessions (off Broadway), The Club, Ragtime, and more. She holds a BA from Point Park University. Brittany and her husband, Dmitry, own Demidov Dance Ballroom Studio in Fox Chapel. 

ASHTON GUTHRIE (Tom Watkins, Dick Wilkins, Undertaker) gladly returns to Pittsburgh CLO for his favorite time of year! BFA Point Park University. Recent Credits: Pirates of Penzance (Frederic) and Guys & Dolls, My Fair Lady with Pittsburgh Public Theater. Proud member of Actor’s Equity. Lewis in Shadowlands, Don Quixote in The Man of La Mancha and Daddy Warbucks in Annie, and his 25th year in A Musical Christmas Carol. DANIEL KRELL (Marley's Ghost, Young Marley, Businessman) has appeared in over 35 productions with Pittsburgh CLO. He has played a variety of major roles with the region’s professional theaters, such as Pittsburgh Public, City Theatre and Quantum, as well as with theaters around the country, including Clarence Brown Theatre, PlayMakers Repertory and Gateway Playhouse among others. Dan is also a veteran of many films, commercials, and voice-overs. Up Next: The White Chip at City Theatre.

JACK ENGEL (Cratchit Child, Match Boy, Want) is thrilled to be in his first CLO performance. Jack first appeared in Opera Theater Pittsburgh’s, The Magic Flute. Jack attends Shady Side Academy and loves CLO Academy tap classes. Thanks to Mom, Dad, Will, Rory, Mumum and Poppi. 

ABIGAIL GILMAN (Cratchit Child, Watkins Child, Ignorance) is thrilled to perform again in A Musical Christmas Carol. Her favorite credits include Jane in Mary Poppins and Sebastian in A Little Mermaid Jr. She is in her third year at CLO Academy. Tons of thanks to my parents, Catie and Mrs. Macre!

Creative Team

DAVID H. BELL (Technical Supervisor / Adapter) is currently the Director of the Music Theatre Program at Northwestern University and the Artistic Director of the American Music Theatre Project. David has worked on and off Broadway, Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, and internationally. He was the Artistic Director of Ford’s Theatre in Washington DC and the Associate Artistic Director of the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta (with Kenny Leon). David directed ATLANTIC at last year’s Edinburgh Festival in Scotland. His work in Chicago has earned him 44 Joseph Jefferson Award nominations as a director, choreographer or author (winning 11). He has also been nominated for the Olivier Award (for the London Production of his HOT MIKADO).

McCRAE HARDY (Music Director) returns to A Musical Christmas Carol for his 22nd season. McCrae was music director/conductor for the North Carolina Theatre in Raleigh, NC from 1984-2005 and Unto These Hills, 1977-2005. Currently, he is the Conductor for The Triangle Youth Symphony and Music Director for The Lost Colony. He holds the Raleigh Medal of Arts “for extraordinary achievement in the arts.” McCrae lives in Garner, NC with his partner, Eric, and their three children, Alex, Cristofer and Amélie.

D MARTYN BOOKWALTER (Scenic Designer) is proud to have shared this 26-year journey of A Musical Christmas Carol with David Bell and the Pittsburgh CLO having designed the original production. He has designed more than 500 productions for theatres across the country, He was the art director of the Fox TV show “MADtv,” for which he received eight consecutive Emmy nominations. Other awards include the 2001 Angstrom Lighting Lifetime Achievement Award from the L.A. Drama Critics Circle, four Drama Critics Circle awards, and a Sarah Siddons Award for Design Excellence.

ANDREW DAVID OSTROWSKI (Lighting Designer) It is a pleasure returning to this annual holiday production. Andy has designed approximately 300 shows throughout the country. KELLY HAYWOOD (Assistant Stage Manager) is thrilled to be back with A Musical Christmas Carol. ALLAN SNYDER (Caroler, Party Guest, Poorhouse Guest, Spirit at Window) is thrilled to return for his second year in AMCC!  Pittsburgh credits include The 39 Steps (CLO Cabaret) and Daddy Long Legs (Pittsburgh Public). Allan appeared on Broadway in Les Misérables, off-Broadway in The Fantasticks and in the national tour of The Phantom of the Opera (often in the title role). ERIKA STRASBURG (Belle, Bess) is so happy to be back for her 5th year of A Musical Christmas Carol! She graduated with a B.F.A. musical theatre degree from Point Park University and has worked with Pittsburgh companies such as Carrnivale Theatrics, Barebones productions, Playhouse Jr. and Prime Stage. JOE CHUFO (Cratchit Child, Schoolmate, Turkey Boy) is thrilled to make his debut in A Musical Christmas Carol. Joe loves acting and studies theater at the Pittsburgh CLO Academy of Musical Theater. Many thanks to his family and friends for all their love and support.

JACK ENGEL (Cratchit Child, Match Boy, Want) is thrilled to be in his first CLO performance. Jack first appeared in Opera Theater Pittsburgh’s, The Magic Flute. Jack attends Shady Side Academy and loves CLO Academy tap classes. Thanks to Mom, Dad, Will, Rory, Mumum and Poppi. 

ABIGAIL GILMAN (Cratchit Child, Watkins Child, Ignorance) is thrilled to perform again in A Musical Christmas Carol. Her favorite credits include Jane in Mary Poppins and Sebastian in A Little Mermaid Jr. She is in her third year at CLO Academy. Tons of thanks to my parents, Catie and Mrs. Macre!

GRACE VENSEL (Cratchit Child) is thrilled to return to A Musical Christmas Carol! Past Pittsburgh CLO appearances include A Musical Christmas Carol and Gypsy. Grace attends the Pittsburgh CLO Academy and is in 7th grade at LPPACS. Enjoy the show!

Creative Team

DAVID H. BELL (Technical Supervisor / Adapter) is currently the Director of the Music Theatre Program at Northwestern University and the Artistic Director of the American Music Theatre Project. David has worked on and off Broadway, Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, and internationally. He was the Artistic Director of Ford’s Theatre in Washington DC and the Associate Artistic Director of the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta (with Kenny Leon). David directed ATLANTIC at last year’s Edinburgh Festival in Scotland. His work in Chicago has earned him 44 Joseph Jefferson Award nominations as a director, choreographer or author (winning 11). He has also been nominated for the Olivier Award (for the London Production of his HOT MIKADO).

McCRAE HARDY (Music Director) returns to A Musical Christmas Carol for his 22nd season. McCrae was music director/conductor for the North Carolina Theatre in Raleigh, NC from 1984-2005 and Unto These Hills, 1977-2005. Currently, he is the Conductor for The Triangle Youth Symphony and Music Director for The Lost Colony. He holds the Raleigh Medal of Arts “for extraordinary achievement in the arts.” McCrae lives in Garner, NC with his partner, Eric, and their three children, Alex, Cristofer and Amélie.

D MARTYN BOOKWALTER (Scenic Designer) is proud to have shared this 26-year journey of A Musical Christmas Carol with David Bell and the Pittsburgh CLO having designed the original production. He has designed more than 500 productions for theatres across the country, He was the art director of the Fox TV show “MADtv,” for which he received eight consecutive Emmy nominations. Other awards include the 2001 Angstrom Lighting Lifetime Achievement Award from the L.A. Drama Critics Circle, four Drama Critics Circle awards, and a Sarah Siddons Award for Design Excellence.

ANDREW DAVID OSTROWSKI (Lighting Designer) It is a pleasure returning to this annual holiday production. Andy has designed approximately 300 shows throughout the country. HEATHER ANKLEY (Stage Manager) has worked with The REP, Pittsburgh CLO, PICT, Pittsburgh Opera, Utah Opera and many more, is a member of AEA, AGMA, and IATSE local #3. Recent credits: Scottsboro Boys, Newsies, Mamma Mia, In The Heights, Wig Out!, Merchant of Venice, A Musical Christmas Carol, Choir Boy, Souvenir, Carmen, Falstaff, Dead Man Walking and The Magic Flute.

KELLY HAYWOOD (Assistant Stage Manager) is thrilled to be back with A Musical Christmas Carol. Past productions with Pittsburgh CLO include: In the Heights, Disney’s Newsies, Mamma Mia, Million Dollar Quartet, Aida, Damn Yankees, South Pacific, Shrek, Mary Poppins, Monty Python’s Spamalot and 42nd Street.  PICT Classic Theater: Romeo and Juliet. Kelly has also done several productions with the Pittsburgh Opera, Public and Ballet.
