Held every March at the prestigious Duquesne Club, the CLO Ambassadors organize and lead this fun-filled evening featuring fine wines and an impressive Silent Auction with one-of-a-kind packages that include autographed celebrity and sports memorabilia and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. This consistently sold-out event attracts more than 500 business leaders and professionals every year.
The Annual Pittsburgh CLO Guild event made its debut in 1955 at the Pittsburgh Field Club as the Pink Frolic. The elegant dinner dance quickly became one of Pittsburgh’s most anticipated social events of the year. THrough the years, it evolved into the Guild Ball, and is now being reborn as a Gala event. Today, the tradition started by that inaugural event continues by honoring those who serve in our community and by staying true to the mission of the Pittsburgh CLO Guild, which is to support Pittsburgh CLO and increase the cultural richness, economic vitality and essential arts education opportunities in our communnity.
Now in its 7th year, Pittsburgh CLO Academy's Taste for Talent party showcases talented students and local restaurants & caterers serving their mouth-watering specialties. Proceeds from Taste for Talent benefit a variety of Pittsburgh CLO Education and Scholarship programs that reach more than 50,000 local students each year.
Established in 1988, the Richard Rodgers Award for Excellence in Musical Theater recognizes the lifetime contributions of outstanding talents in musical theater. Pittsburgh CLO has presented the Richard Rodgers Award 12 times in recent years to such luminaries as Mary Martin (1988), Dame Julie Andrews (1989), Harold Prince (1991), Sir Cameron Mackintosh (1992), Stephen Sondheim (1993), Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber (1996), Gwen Verdon (2000), Bernadette Peters (2002), Shirley Jones (2007), Kathleen Marshall (2008) and Rob Marshall (2008) and Stephen Schwartz (2009).
