HIGH-OCTANE MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT!
Meet Jim, Eddie, Jackson and L.M. – the pump boys of Highway 57. They’ll fill up your tank by day and cut loose by night with a crowd-pleasing mix of southern-fried rock, rhythm and blues! Just across the road you’ll find Double Cupp Diner where sisters Prudie and Rhetta Cupp serve up the finest home cookin’ and sweetest manners this side of the Mississippi. Together, these six friends sing of joy and heartbreak while strumming and humming away on guitar, piano, bass, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, harmonica and even a few kitchen utensils!

Cast

JUSTIN BENDEL (Eddie) began his association with the CLO Cabaret during it’s inaugural show, Forever Plaid, for which he played 400+ performances. Last year, he returned for the hit comedy First Date. With over 60 musicals to his credit, he is certainly no stranger to musical theater. As a professional bassist, he is active in many genres including various orchestras, jazz groups, singing competitions (such as Campus Superstar) and studio work. These vast opportunities have allowed Justin to collaborate with the highest caliber of musicians from around the globe. Career highlights include: Patrizio Buanne tour, Elaine Stritch, Tom Rocco and legendary Ray Charles.

JON ROHLF (Jackson) is beyond excited to be returning to the CLO Cabaret. Jon was last seen in Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash at the CLO Cabaret. He is a Pittsburgh native and a graduate of Point Park University’s Conservatory of Performing Arts as well as California University’s Masters of Teaching program. Jon’s other credits include Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson (Band Leader) and Huck Finn (Huckleberry Finn). Jon also devotes much of his time to education and student outreach as a teaching artist and substitute teacher throughout the tri-county area.

JULIA SMOLKA (Understudy, Dance Captain) is thrilled to be making her Pittsburgh CLO debut! Julia works independently as a musician (singer/songwriter), where she performs at local restaurants, cafés, festivals and weddings. She has worked as a performer for RWS Entertainment Group, a production company based in Long Island, NY. Favorite stage credits include Carrie: The Musical (Norma), The Little Mermaid (Aquata), West Side Story (Velma), Phantom of the Opera (Christine), Into the Woods (Rapunzel), Children of Eden (Storyteller). Julia is a graduate of Point Park Conservatory where she received a BA in Acting. LUKE STEINHAUER (L.M.), originally from Mt. Lebanon, is thrilled to be making his CLO Cabaret debut in Pump Boys & Dinettes. Regional theatre credits include: The Muny, Music Theatre Wichita, Theatre Aspen and Pittsburgh CLO. Growing up, Luke attended the Pittsburgh CLO Academy, was a Mini-Star, and eventually got his equity card doing Singin’ in the Rain at Pittsburgh CLO. ERIKA STRASBURG (Prudie Cupp) is so happy to be back at the Cabaret! She was last seen here in Ring of Fire and has also been in Pittsburgh CLO’s A Musical Christmas Carol for the past 4 years. Other Pittsburgh credits include: Three Days in the Country, Cock (Kinetic Theater), One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (barebones), Pantagleize (Quantum). NYC: St. Joan of the Stockyards (Off-Broadway, BroadwayWorld ‘Performance of the Year’). DREW LEIGH WILLIAMS (Rhetta Cupp) is thrilled to be making her CLO Cabaret debut! Although she’s a Pennsylvania native, Drew’s theater performance background includes Chicago’s Stage 773, Drury Lane Oakbrook, Profiles Theatre, Pride Films & Plays and Fremont St., to name a few. Favorite roles include “Sara Jane Moore” in Assassins, “Cathy” in The Last Five Years, “Lucienne” in A Flea in Her Ear, “Dionyza” in Pericles and “Mrs. Walker” in The Who’s Tommy. Outside of theater, she is on faculty at Clarion University and Clarion Center for the Arts. Proud MFA in Acting from the Chicago College of Performing Arts. Drew Leigh would like to thank Pittsburgh CLO and her loved ones for the support!

REED ALLEN WORTH (Understudy) is so excited to be working with Pittsburgh CLO! Originally from Lisbon, Ohio. Graduated from Point Park University. National tour: Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief (Grover). Others: Beauty and the Beast (Lumiere), Cabaret (Clif), Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson (Andrew Jackson), Oklahoma! (Will Parker). BENJAMIN ENDSLEY KLEIN (Director) was born in Charlotte, NC and graduated from the University of Michigan. Director of Ann on Broadway starring Tony Nominated actress Holland Taylor as Governor Ann Richards. Selected credits as Director include First Date at Pittsburgh CLO, Bend in the Road at New York Musical Theatre Festival (included in Huffington Post’s “The Best Shows of 2013”), the world premiere musical Hello Out There at The Adirondack Theatre Festival, the East Coast Premiere of Sick by Zayd Dohrn at New Jersey Repertory, Hairspray at Charlottetown Festival (Prince Edward Island, Canada), Notes to MariAnne at the Eugene O’Neill Musical Theatre Conference and Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas at The Old Globe in San Diego, California. 

KIESHA LALAMA (Choreographer) has created more than 50 works for stage, film and television.  Screen credits: The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Sorority Row; the documentary series “Broadway or Bust” (PBS) and “Outsiders” (WGN, 2016). Theatrical credits include National High School Musical Theatre Awards, All Shook UpJesus Christ SuperstarInto the WoodsFirst Date, Judge Jackie JusticeRuthless! The Musical and A Grand Night for Singing. Lalama has created two full-length contemporary dance theater productions; The Bench and HeartShakes. The Bench received rave reviews and was named “Best of Dance” (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette), and is currently under development with Titus Theatricals in partnership with DCDC.

ISAAC HARLAN (Music Director) A Pittsburgh native, Isaac is thrilled to be returning to his hometown to work with Pittsburgh CLO. Since graduating from Penn State (classical piano), he has worked in NYC as a pianist, music director, arranger and orchestrator. Isaac has played concerts with Norm Lewis, Eden Espinosa, Patina Miller, Renee Goldsberry and Michael McElroy and has also been fortunate to work with other vocalists such as Leslie Odom Jr., Liz Callaway, Brian Stokes Mitchell and Angela Lansbury. Isaac also frequently works as an arranger and pianist for the Broadway Inspirational Voices.

STEPHANIE SHAW (Costume Designer), works at City Theatre Company as the Costume Shop Manager. Recent costume design credits include: The 39 Steps (CLO Cabaret 2016), Feeding the Dragon (City Theatre Co., 2016), The Spitfire Grill (Ole Miss 2015), World Builders (Contemporary American Theatre Festival 2015), Blood Brothers and The Merry Wives of Windsor (Texas Shakespeare Festival 2012), The Taming of the Shrew (TSF 2011) and Hamlet (Reduxion Theatre Company NYC 2006) as well as the Puppet Design and construction for Hand to God (City Theatre Co., 2016).  She would like to thank her new theater friends of Pittsburgh for their warm welcome and love to family back home!

TIM BRADY (Production Stage Manager) returns for his 12th season as PSM at the CLO Cabaret. As an actor, he has appeared in 11 productions of Pittsburgh CLO’s A Musical Christmas Carol and various Summer Season productions with Pittsburgh CLO. Other local theaters that Mr. Brady has performed with include The Pittsburgh Pops, Starlight Productions, The New Pittsburgh Jewish Theatre, Stage Right and The Theatre Factory. Mr. Brady was also the managing director of the Conley Inn Dinner Theater in Irwin for 17 years. Tim starred in the Jason Coll television pilot, “Munhall.”
