A STAR-CROSSED LOVE STORY FOR THE AGES!
Two strangers peruse a museum exhibit and are suddenly transported to Ancient Egypt where they meet as Aida, an enslaved Nubian princess, and Radames, an Egyptian soldier betrothed to the Pharaoh’s daughter. Radames and Aida’s forbidden love becomes a shining example of true devotion that ultimately transcends the cultural differences between their warring nations, heralding a time of unprecedented peace and prosperity. As their epic story draws to a close, our pair of strangers resume their visit to the museum where they find themselves inexplicably drawn to each other. The unforgettable Grammy Award-winning score by Elton John and Tim Rice features soaring ballads including Billboard hit “Written in the Stars.”

Monteze has worked with the Arena Players, The Pittsburgh Playhouse, Kuntu Rep (Radio Golf), Pittsburgh Playwrights (The Piano Lesson), City Theatre, Quantum Theatre (The Electric Baby) and many more in the Pittsburgh region. LAMONT WALKER II (Mereb) is so excited to be working at Pittsburgh CLO this season. Originally from Virginia Beach, Va, he’s currently a senior at Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA pursuing a BFA in Musical Theatre. CAMERON AMANDUS (Ensemble) just graduated from the University of Michigan Musical Theatre program. While at school, Cameron enjoyed roles in Guys & Dolls, The Music Man, Caroline or Change and Romeo & Juliet. Outside of school, he worked at Thunder Bay Theatre, Summer Repertory Theatre, and looks forward to adding Pittsburgh CLO to his resume. GERALD CAESAR (Ensemble) is a recent graduate of Elon University, where he obtained his BFA in Music Theatre. BARRY IVAN (Director/Choreographer) Highlighted Pittsburgh CLO credits: Company, Sunset Boulevard, A Little Night Music, Miss Saigon, The Full Monty, Les Misérables, Footloose and West Side Story. Mr. Ivan is an IRNE nominated Director for Nine and Les Misérables; his productions of The Full Monty and Hairspray received Best Musical IRNE awards, and as Producer, his production of SHOWBOAT received the Elliot Norton award for Best Musical. Other National and International directing credits range from Yale to the German State Opera. New works include Director/Choreographer of the US Premiere of Dracula: A Chamber Musical, and director of POWER PLAYS at the Dramatist Guild. Mr. Ivan is currently under contract producing and developing Web TV programming, and is ecstatic to be reunited with the incredibly talented Pittsburgh CLO staff, crew and cast.
TOM HELM (Musical Director) happily returns for his 21st Pittsburgh CLO season, having conducted more than 60 productions. His other adventures include conducting the Broadway productions of the Brigadoon revival, CATS, Me and My Girl, Les Misérables and Souvenir. Tom was musical director of the first national tour of CATS, Radio City’s 5-6-7-8 Dance!, and television productions of Mornings at Seven and Crazy For You. Tom supervised touring productions of Me and My Girl, Dora the Explorer, Diego Live, Rugrats and Madagascar. He has also been music director of some 50 Paper Mill Playhouse productions, among other regional and national theaters.

BARRY IVAN (Director/Choreographer) Highlighted Pittsburgh CLO credits: Company, Sunset Boulevard, A Little Night Music, Miss Saigon, The Full Monty, Les Misérables, Footloose and West Side Story. Mr. Ivan is an IRNE nominated Director for Nine and Les Misérables; his productions of The Full Monty and Hairspray received Best Musical IRNE awards, and as Producer, his production of SHOWBOAT received the Elliot Norton award for Best Musical. Other National and International directing credits range from Yale to the German State Opera. New works include Director/Choreographer of the US Premiere of Dracula: A Chamber Musical, and director of POWER PLAYS at the Dramatist Guild. Mr. Ivan is currently under contract producing and developing Web TV programming, and is ecstatic to be reunited with the incredibly talented Pittsburgh CLO staff, crew and cast.
TOM HELM (Musical Director) happily returns for his 21st Pittsburgh CLO season, having conducted more than 60 productions. His other adventures include conducting the Broadway productions of the Brigadoon revival, CATS, Me and My Girl, Les Misérables and Souvenir. Tom was musical director of the first national tour of CATS, Radio City’s 5-6-7-8 Dance!, and television productions of Mornings at Seven and Crazy For You. Tom supervised touring productions of Me and My Girl, Dora the Explorer, Diego Live, Rugrats and Madagascar. He has also been music director of some 50 Paper Mill Playhouse productions, among other regional and national theaters.
