Lewis J. Stadlen (Tevye)

Mr. Stadlen made his professional debut in 1967, playing Mendel the rabbi’s son in the National Company of Fiddler On The Roof. He played Max Bialystock over seven hundred times in The Producers, in the National Company and on Broadway. He garnered early attention portraying Groucho Marx in Minnie’s Boys; Voltaire, Dr. Pangloss, etc., in Leonard Bernstein’s Candide. (Tony® Nomination); Ben Silverman in The Sunshine Boys. He has originated roles in three other Neil Simon plays: Forty Five Seconds From Broadway, Laughter On The 23rd Floor and the female version of The Odd Couple. Other Broadway roles include Senex in the revival of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum starring Nathan Lane (Tony® nomination); Banjo in The Man Who Came To Dinner and Krinsky in The People In The Picture. He played Nathan Detroit in the national company of Guys & Dolls; Harry the Hoofer in The Time of Your Life, starring Henry Fonda. Other favorite roles include Azdak in The Caucasion Chalk Circle; Trigorin in The Seagull; Horace Vandergelder in Hello Dolly and The Matchmaker; Glogaurer in Once In a Lifetime; Potofsky in The Pillowman; Applegate in Damn Yankees; Mr. MacAfee in Bye Bye Birdie; Willie Clark in The Sunshine Boys; title roles in The Miser; Semmelweiss; S.J. Perelman in Person and Mizlansky/ Zilinsky. Some of his better films: “The Verdict”; “Serpico”; “To Be or Not to Be” and “In & Out”. Susan Cella (Golde)

Ms. Cella is thrilled to be back as Golde, a role she played opposite Theodore Bikel, Topol and Harvey Fierstein. PCLO: Gypsy, Bye Bye Birdie, Most Happy Fella, 42nd Street and Me and My Girl. Hunter Ryan Herdlicka (Fyedka)

Mr. Herdlicka recently starred on Broadway as Henrik in A Little Night Music, opposite Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angela Lansbury, followed by Bernadette Peters and Elaine Stritch. Selected credits include Othello and Fiddler on the Roof (as Motel) with the Utah Shakespearean Festival, The Tempest (Ariel) with Dallas Theater Center, as well as 3 seasons with the West Virginia Public Theater. Jeff Howell (Mordcha)

Mr. Howell was recently seen in Tigers Be Still (City Theatre); Pittsburgh CLO shows include Jesus Christ Superstar (Annas), Jekyll and Hyde (Poole), A Musical Christmas Carol (Bob Cratchit), Beauty and the Beast (Cogsworth), Bells are Ringing (Dr. Kitchell) and The Pajama Game (Prez); other credits include Candide (Dr. Pangloss), Chicago (Billy Flynn) and Tribute to Lerner and Loewe with Marvin Hamlisch and the PSO.

Anne Markt (Chava)

Ms. Markt is thrilled to be a part of her first production at Pittsburgh CLO! She is a University of Michigan graduate with a BFA in Musical Theatre. Since graduating, Anne has performed as the Female Standby in The Fantasticks off-Broadway and as a Swing on the National Tour of Hair! David Perlman (Motel)

Mr. Perlman is thrilled to be making his Pittsburgh CLO debut. Credits include Baby It’s You! (Stanley standby) on Broadway, Yank! (Rotelli) Off-Broadway, and Madagascar Live! (Melman) at Radio City Music Hall. David has also performed in shows without exclamation points in their titles, like the European tour of Hair (Woof) and Prospect Theater Company’s Iron Curtain (Murray). Joel Robertson (Lazar Wolfe)

Mr. Robertson feels complete as a true villager of Anatevka, first playing Fyedka in the National Tour with Herschel Bernardi and now playing Lazar Wolf, the Butcher; and considers himself blessed to be part of the season at Pittsburgh CLO. Broadway Credits: Fiddler on the Roof, Cats, Les Misérables, Parade and Jekyll and Hyde, as well as his dream job of playing Santa Claus in Radio City’s Christmas Spectacular in Chicago dancing with those world famous Rockettes.

Gene A. Saraceni (Rabbi)

Since 1980 Gene appeared in over two dozen Pittsburgh CLO presentations, performing his favorite roles, the Congressional Secretary in 1776 and Doc in West Side Story multiple times. His regional credits include the PICT productions Tartuffe and Hamlet and City Theatre’s Temptation. Early in his career he toured the US and Canada in Shakespearean repertory. “Doc” Saraceni also taught at Seton Hill University for 37 years.

Emily Shoolin (Tzeitel)

Direct from her Broadway debut as Emily Osborn in Spiderman, Emily is thrilled to be debuting at Pittsburgh CLO! Recent credits: Annie (Pioneer Theatre Company); Enter Laughing (York Off-Bway); Fiddler on the Roof (National Tour opposite Harvey Fierstein and Theodore Bikel); The Tin Pan Alley Rag (Roundabout Off-Bway); Nerds (Philadelphia Theatre Co). Daniel Krell (Nachum, Ensemble)

Mr. Krell has appeared in over 30 Pittsburgh CLO productions. Additional credits include: Pittsburgh Public, City Theatre, Quantum, Bricolage, PICT and The Rep; regionally at Clarence Brown Theatre, PlayMakers Repertory and Gateway Playhouse among others; and in several films, commercials, industrials, and voice-overs. Ms. Feldman is excited to return to Pittsburgh CLO! Previously seen in Oliver! and Annie, she portrayed Ngana in the USCHS production of South Pacific and was a finalist in the 18th annual Shakespeare Contest.

Ms. Tongel makes her CLO debut this summer in Annie and Fiddler on the Roof. She is an 8 year old GATE student at Pivik Elementary in Plum Boro who has been a dancer and gymnast since age 2.

Jack Allison (Director)

Mr. Allison returns to Pittsburgh CLO after directing over 20 productions during CLO’s time at Heinz Hall. Regional directing credits: Walnut Street Theatre, Coconut Grove Playhouse, Cincinnati Opera, North Shore Music Theatre, California Music Theatre, Kansas City Starlight, St. Louis MUNY, Casa Manana. New York: Manhattan Theatre Club and Circle Repertory Company. He staged Cabaret and A Funny Thing… at the National Theatre of Belgium. He is the recipient of three Florida Carbonell Awards, three Boston Globe Awards and three KC Star Awards. He is a member of SDC and currently is on the musical theatre faculty at Point Park University.

     
   

Mark Esposito (Choreographer)

PCLO: Brigadoon, Guys and Dolls, Fiddler on the Roof, She Loves Me, The Music Man, Tommy, Carousel, West Side Story, The Sound of Music and Oklahoma! Mark has performed in over 16 Broadway and National Tours and choreographed for numerous regional theaters, the York and Signature Theater Companies in NYC and The Hollywood Bowl. He has choreographed Yuletide Celebration with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and has served as associate director/choreographer for the Radio City Christmas Show and for Disney Global Casting.

     
   

Tom Helm (Music Director)

Mr. Helm happily returns for his 17th Pittsburgh CLO season, having conducted more than 60 productions. His other adventures include conducting the Broadway productions of the Brigadoon revival, Cats, Me and My Girl, Les Misérables and Souvenir. Tom was musical director of the first national tour of Cats, Radio City’s 5-6-7-8 Dance!, and television productions of Mornings at Seven and Crazy For You. Tom supervised touring productions of Me and My Girl, Dora the Explorer, Diego Live, Rugrats and Madagascar. He has also been music director of some 50 Paper Mill Playhouse productions, among other regional and national theatres.
 

     
   

John McLain (Lighting Designer)

Credits: major musicals, ballet, opera, Las Vegas, Broadway, road shows, ice shows, and many international productions. Coming to Pittsburgh CLO in 1988 with The Wizard of Oz, this will be his 24th season here. He is greatly appreciative of his associates Jeffrey Small and Amanda Demczuk - without whom he could not create the lighting for PCLO productions. He lives in New York City and Connecticut.
