Liz Callaway (Norma Desmond)

Walter Charles (Max von Mayerling)

Mr. Charles recently celebrated his 43rd anniversary in the theatre. Highlights: Grease, Sweeney Todd, Cats and La Cage Aux Folles on Broadway. Walter co-starred with Tyne Daley in the Encores! production of Call Me Madam, Michelle Lee and Tovah Feldshuh in Hello, Dolly! and with Constance Towers & Judy Kaye in Follies. In 1994, he created the role of Scrooge in Alan Menken’s A Christmas Carol. Walter’s last appearance with Pittsburgh CLO was in La Cage Aux Folles. He’s delighted to be back!

 

     
   

 

Jeffrey Howell (Cecil B. DeMille)

Mr. Howell was recently seen in Tigers Be Still (City Theatre). Pittsburgh CLO shows include Jesus Christ Superstar (Annas), Jekyll and Hyde (Poole), A Musical Christmas Carol (Bob Cratchit), Beauty and the Beast (Cogsworth), Bells are Ringing (Dr. Kitchell) and The Pajama Game (Prez). Other credits include Candide (Dr. Pangloss), Chicago (Billy Flynn) and Tribute to Lerner and Loewe with Marvin Hamlisch and the PSO.

David Perlman (Artie Green)

Mr. Perlman made his PCLO debut last week in Fiddler on the Roof (Motel). Credits include Baby It’s You! (Stanley standby) on Broadway, Yank! (Rotelli) Off-Broadway, and Madagascar Live! (Melman) at Radio City Music Hall. David has also performed in shows without exclamation points in their titles, like the European tour of Hair (Woof) and Prospect Theater Company’s Iron Curtain (Murray). Amanda Rose (Betty Schaefer)

Ms. Rose is very excited to be making her Pittsburgh CLO debut! Broadway/National tours: Wicked (Nessarose), Dr. Dolittle starring Tommy Tune, and Oklahoma! (Laurey). Favorite recent regional: Gypsy (Louise), Miss Saigon (Ellen), Curtains (Nikki), Sunset Boulevard (Betty), Singin’ in the Rain (Kathy), Les Misérables, Swing!, West Side Story, and 42nd Street at wonderful theatres such as Papermill Playhouse, Sacramento Music Circus, Goodspeed Opera House, Houston TUTS, Maine State Music Theatre, Atlanta TOTS, Fulton Theatre, and Ogunquit Playhouse.

Matthew Scott (Joe Gillis)

Broadway: Sondheim On Sondheim (Cast Album), Jersey Boys, A Catered Affair, The Best Little Whorehouse…(Actors’ Fund). Matt’s performance in The Light in the Piazza for the Philadelphia Theatre Company earned him a Barrymore Award. Regional: Les Misérables, Swing!, and 1776 (all for Pittsburgh CLO), Becoming Chaplin (La Jolla Playhouse, San Diego Theatre Critics Nomination), First You Dream: The Music of Kander and Ebb (Kennedy Center) Ace and Side By Side…(Signature Theater), Ragtime (Paper Mill Playhouse), Tick, Tick...Boom! Denée Benton (Ensemble)

Ms. Benton is a rising junior Musical Theater major at CMU and is thrilled to be a part of Pittsburgh CLO for the first time.
 

     
   

Sal Bucci (Ensemble)

Mr. Bucci is thrilled to return to his hometown this summer to make his debut with Pittsburgh CLO! Credits: Kiss Me, Kate!, Rent, and Peter Pan with Penn State Centre Stage. Upcoming: Sweeney Todd (Penn State Centre Stage, Dir. Susan H. Schulman). BFA-Penn State University, 2013.

     
   

Max Clayton (Ensemble)

Pittsburgh CLO debut! Regional: NSMT, Palace Theatre and MTWichita. Max is a rising junior at the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music. CCM: Spring Awakening (Melchior) and Oklahoma! (Dream Curly).

     
   

 

Sarah Ellis (Mary the Starlet, Ensemble)

Ms. Ellis is overjoyed to be part of the Pittsburgh CLO family! Favorite Credits: U/S Eliza in My Fair Lady (North Shore) and Amber in Hairspray (West Virginia Public). PSU Credits: Lois in Kiss Me, Kate!, Maureen in Rent and Sandy in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. Penn State Class of 2012!

Ms. Farren is honored to be joining Pittsburgh CLO for the 2012 Summer Season! Chandler most recently finished her BA in Dance at Point Park University.

 

     
   

 

Allison Griffith (Joanna, Ensemble)

Ms. Griffith is thrilled to be making her Pittsburgh CLO and Equity debut here at the Benedum! Allison, a BFA Musical Theater Major at Point Park University, was most recently seen in the Pittsburgh Playhouse production of Dark of the Moon.

 

     
   

 

Joe Jackson (Morino, Ensemble)

Mr. Jackson is overjoyed to return to the Benedum with Pittsburgh CLO. Past favorites have included Oliver!, The Producers, Jekyll & Hyde and Jesus Christ Superstar.

 

     
   

 

Julia Johanos (Heather, Ensemble)

Ms. Johanos couldn’t be more excited to be spending this summer with the Pittsburgh CLO! Previous roles include Florence in Chess (Rocky Mountain Repertory Theater), Serena in Legally Blonde and Laurey in Oklahoma! (CCM).

 

     
   

 

Daniel Krell (Myron, Manfred, Ensemble)

Mr. Krell has appeared in over 30 Pittsburgh CLO productions. Additional credits include: Pittsburgh Public, City Theatre, Quantum, Bricolage, PICT and The Rep; regionally at Clarence Brown Theatre, PlayMakers Repertory and Gateway Playhouse among others; and in several films, commercials, industrials, and voice-overs. Up next: Pittsburgh Public’s Born Yesterday.

 

     
   

 

Justin Lonesome (Ensemble)

This marks Justin’s 3rd Pittsburgh CLO season! PCLO: Oliver!, Curtains and Jesus Christ Superstar. PPU: No Place To Be Somebody, Parade, Thoroughly Modern Millie and Antigone. BA Musical Theatre, Point Park University.

 

     
   

 

Trevor McQueen (Financeman, Ensemble)

Mr. McQueen is pleased to return to Pittsburgh CLO! Broadway: Annie Get Your Gun (Little Jake) with Bernadette Peters. Regional: ‘S Wonderful (PCLO). Studying Music Theatre at Carnegie Mellon University.

 

     
   

 

Connor McRory (Ensemble)

Mr. McRory is a rising sophomore at Penn State University, BFA Musical Theatre. He is thrilled to be a part of the Pittsburgh CLO summer season. Regional Credits: The Who’s Tommy, Singin’ in the Rain and A Musical Christmas Carol (PCLO).

J. Alex Noble (Financeman, Ensemble)

Mr. Noble is excited to be making his Pittsburgh CLO debut. He has been seen on stage with Stage Right!, PMT, WVPT and The REP. Alex is a recent graduate of Point Park University.

 

     
 

Joel Robertson (Sheldrake, Hog Eye, Ensemble)

Mr. Robertson considers himself blessed to be part of the season at Pittsburgh CLO. Broadway Credits: Fiddler on the Roof, Cats, Les Misérables, Parade and Jekyll and Hyde, as well as his dream job of playing Santa Claus in Radio City’s Christmas Spectacular in Chicago dancing with those world famous Rockettes.

     
   

 

Gabriella Sorrentino (Ensemble)

Ms. Sorrentino is a native New Yorker and graduate of Point Park University (BFA Dance). She attended Professional Performing Arts High School/Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre in NYC where she trained.

 

     
   

 

Lauren Zapko (Ensemble)

Creative Team

   

Barry Ivan (Director and Choreographer)

Mr. Ivan is delighted to be reunited with the incredibly talented CLO staff, crew and cast. His credits range from Guest Director at Yale to his production of West Side Story at the German State Opera. Mr. Ivan’s productions of the regional premiere of Hairspray and The Full Monty have received IRNE awards for Best Musical, and Mr. Ivan has been IRNE nominated as Best Director for his productions of Les Misérables and Nine. His CLO directing highlights include A Little Night Music starring Dee Hoty and Beth Leavel; Company starring Malcolm Gets and Michelle Pawk, Anything Goes starring Carolee Carmello, The Full Monty featuring Sally Struthers, Miss Saigon, Smokey Joe's Cafe, West Side Story, and Les Misérables. Actively involved in new works, Mr. Ivan had the pleasure of directing the US Premiere of Dracula: A Chamber Musical; and working with Maury Yeston when he staged In the Beginning; and Tales of Tinseltown in NYC at the Acorn Theatre in association with the Director’s Company.

     
   

Tom Helm (Music Director)

Mr. Helm returns for his 17th season with Pittsburgh CLO. His theater credits include the Broadway productions of Souvenir, Les Misérables, Me and My Girl, Cats and Brigadoon. He has also contributed his talents to television programs such as “Crazy For You” and the “Today Show.” Mr. Helm has conducted at Radio City Music Hall, Paper Mill Playhouse and many other regional and national theaters.
