Welcoming children ages 5–11, the Children School focuses on developing self-confidence and exploring creativity through musical theater. Students as young as five use their imaginations as they sing, dance and act their way through fun-filled classes that teach both fundamental performance skills and critical thinking lessons that extend beyond the classroom. Classes meet conveniently once a week.
Perfect for 12–18 year olds, the Student School helps students explore a deeper interest in musical theater and the performing arts field. The Student School is a wonderful way to augment a young performer’s acting, dance or vocal training. With classes held once a week on Saturdays, this well-rounded program fits even the busiest child’s schedule. Core curriculum includes acting, voice and dance with additional electives available, including Hip Hop and the All-Academy Musical. Vocal classes in this program are conducted in groups.
Designed for ages 10–18, the Pre-Professional School is for focused and motivated students with proficient skills who want to continue training as young adults and plan to pursue a higher level of education and future career in the performance arts. Classes range from beginner through advanced levels and meet two weeknights per week. The program encourages students to enroll in a solid core curriculum and diversify their training with multiple electives.
A 10% discount is offered to students registered for 3-4 classes; a 15% discount is offered to students registered for 5 or more classes. Does not apply to private voice/piano class. One discount per registration.
ACTING — Structured to both encourage the shyest beginner and challenge the more experienced performer, classes are built around the basics of acting and include instruction in movement, ensemble work, improvisation, characterization and how to approach scripted materials. Upon completion of the curriculum, young actors leave with a variety of tools enabling them to audition effectively, make powerful choices in rehearsal, contribute their gifts in an ensemble, relate to an audience and take risks on and off the stage
VOICE — Designed to promote self-confidence, musical skills and stage presence in students of all ages, students will also benefit from the private instruction tailored to their individual needs with a focus on a wide variety of musical genres, including Musical Theater, Classical, Jazz and Pop.
PIANO — Private piano is also available and strongly suggested for those students wishing to major in Voice or Musical Theater in college.
The All-Academy Musical offers students ages 7-18 a rewarding challenge through this unique opportunity to perform live, on stage for family and friends. Rehearsals are held on Saturday afternoons during the 2nd Semester. Only students enrolled in the Children School, Student School or Pre-Professional School during the 2nd Semester may enroll in this course.
Throughout the year, CLO Academy students have the exclusive opportunity to participate in Master Classes and Workshops with some of musical theater’s hottest talent and most knowledgeable professionals. Our Musical Theater Extravaganza (MTX) is held each semester, and master classes are scheduled year-round.
