Pittsburgh CLO is thrilled to announce the company's inaugural Festival of New Musicals. Created through the generosity of the Next Generation Capital Campaign, the Festival is an ambitious step forward in Pittsburgh CLO's new musicals initiative. In March and April 2018, Pittsburgh CLO will welcome over 100 artists to the heart of Pittsburgh's Cultural District to rehearse, revise, and present brand new musicals for audiences of friends, donors, and industry veterans.

New musical development is a rarely-seen process; through the Festival, Pittsburgh CLO invites audiences and artists to connect with and inspire one another, demystifying and celebrating the development process. The Festival will provide dramaturgy and production resources to nine new musicals at all stages of development, including the world premiere of UP AND AWAY.

Through close collaboration with Pittsburgh CLO producing staff and a local and national roster of professional artists, writing teams will have the opportunity to rehearse and revise their work in residencies ranging from two days to three weeks. As a part of this development period, six of the musicals will receive public presentations through which the writing teams can gather audience insights and focus their intentions for the next phase of development.

In addition to concentrated new work development, the Festival will include special programming for artists and audience members, including Festival Late Nights, Educational Programs, and VIP Parties & Events.

Public & VIP programming begins Monday, March 26 and continues through Sunday, April 8, with an Industry Weekend April 6-8.
