Pittsburgh CLO Mini Stars
A Fantastic Way to Entertain Your Guests
For over 30 years, the Pittsburgh CLO Mini Stars have built a reputation as Pittsburgh’s leading young performance company.
The Pittsburgh CLO Mini Stars have been featured at numerous high-profile events, including recent appearances at Pittsburgh Light-Up Night, the Pittsburgh Marathon, and at Walt Disney’s Epcot Center. They have also performed in many Pittsburgh CLO main stage productions, such as Mary Poppins, Gypsy, Disney’s High School Musical, Grease, Annie, The Wizard of Oz,The Music Man, and Shrek.
Students may audition for this elite professional development program designed for Grades 6-12. This exclusive group of students are exposed to quality training, performance experience, behind the scenes process, and constructive networking skills such as public speaking, public relations, social media etiquette, and personal marketing management. Mini Stars must represent the highest standard of excellence as an ambassador to the CLO including class attendance, talent, behavior, appearance, respect for others, and value of the program.

Meet the 2017-2018 Pittsburgh CLO Mini Stars!
Chelsea Calfo is excited to be returning to the Pittsburgh CLO Academy Mini Stars! Favorite credits include Smile (Doria), Thoroughly Modern Millie (Millie Dillmount) and Anything Goes (Reno Sweeney), for which she was a Best Actress nominee at the 2017 Gene Kelly Awards. Chelsea is a senior Musical Theater major at Pittsburgh CAPA. She would like to thank her family, Amy Staubnau, Diana Griffith, the Academy staff and the Mini Star production team. A special thank you to Kiesha for giving us a safe and unique place to learn and grow, and to Patty for all of her unwavering support over the years. “To my peers, thank you for the many years of friendship, creativity and love. You've made my time at the academy worthwhile.”
Skylar Davidson, a junior at North Allegheny Senior High School, is absolutely thrilled to be a Pittsburgh CLO Academy Mini Star! Some of her favorite past Pittsburgh CLO Academy credits include Brenda Freelander (Smile) Carol Strong (Catch Me If You Can) and Penelope Penniwise (Urinetown). Skylar is profoundly grateful for her wonderful CLO Academy teachers, staff, and fellow students. She thanks her family for their unconditional love and for giving her endless support.
Zoe Dunay is thrilled to be a fifth year CLO Mini Star! Zoe has been seen in numerous Pittsburgh CLO Academy productions. Her favorite credits include Kimberly (Smile), Nina (In The Heights) and Alice (Thoroughly Modern Millie). She is a Junior Musical Theater Major at Pittsburgh CAPA, and has perfromed in their productios of Anything Goes (Purity) and Annie (Tessie). Zoe wishes to thank her family, instructors and friends for their constant love and support.
Emma Hackworth is a junior at North Allegheny and is thrilled to be returning to the Pittsburgh CLO Mini Stars! Her favorite credits include: Smile (Robin), Legally Blonde (Elle Woods), Little Shop of Horrors (Audrey) and Thoroughly Modern Millie (Miss Dorothy). She sends many thanks and much love to her family, and friends!
Allison Joyce is thrilled to return to the Pittsburghh CLO Mini Stars and start her 10th year at Pittsburgh CLO Academy. Some of her past credits include Beauty and the Beast (Silly Girl #1/ dance corps), Thoroughly Modern Millie (Rita) and Into the Woods (Little Red). She would like to thank her fellow Mini Stars for their hard work and friendship.
Rylan Kadlecik, a junior at Montour High School, has appeared in school productions Anything Goes and Young Frankenstein. Rylan is enjoying her fourth year at Pittsburgh CLO Academy and is a returning member of the CLO Mini Stars. At the CLO Academy, Rylan performed in Catch Me If You Can (Featured Dancer) and Thoroughly Modern Millie (Muzzy). Rylan would like to thank her family and friends for their love and support.
Emily Kruczek is delighted to join Pittsburgh CLO Mini Stars! Past roles include Sarah Brown (Guys and Dolls, Jr.), Dorothy Parker (Thoroughly Modern Millie), and the Star-To-Be (Annie, Jr.). Huge thanks to all that made this incredible experience possible. Much love!
Felicia Niebel is thrilled to once again be performing with the Pittsburgh CLO Mini Stars and to represent the Pittsburgh CLO. She has been a student for eight years at the CLO Academy, and has appeared in several productions on both the CLO main stage and around her community. Felicia is thankful for her family, friends, and teachers who support her dreams.
Halle Surgil is thrilled to be a returning CLO Mini Star! Previous CLO Academy Productions include Smile, Anything Goes, Catch Me If You Can and Thoroughly Modern Millie. Halle was honored to win a best supporting actress Henri Mancini Award this year in Freeport's Cinderella as Charlotte. She has also performed in Pittsburgh CLO productions of Annie, Gypsy and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Halle thanks her family, friends and teachers for their support!
Christina Trocchio is excited to return to the Pittsburgh CLO Mini Stars! Past shows include: Smile, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Footloose, Catch Me If You Can, Anything Goes and The Addams Family. Christina has twice had the honor of being nominated as a Best Supporting Actress at the Pittsburgh CLO Gene Kelly Awards. Much love to her family for all of their support!
Lucia Williams is always thrilled to be a part of Pittsburgh CLO Mini Stars once again, and to return to the CLO Academy for her sixth year. She has been in numerous CLO mainstage productions as well as her high school musicals, most recently the Gene Kelly-nominated show In the Heights. She wants to thank Amy for her love and guidance and all of her teachers here at the CLO Academy. Much love to her family…especially to Anthony and Sofia!
In Julia's 11 years at the CLO Academy (many as a Pittsburgh CLO Mini Star), she has performed in Smile (Maria) Into the Woods (Florinda), Anything Goes (Ensemble), Catch Me If You Can (Featured Dancer) and Thoroughly Modern Millie (Pearl Lady). Past credits include starring in Prime Stage Theater's productions of The Perks of Being a Wallflower (Sam) and The Devil's Arithmetic (Hannah Stern) and Shady Side Academy's The Addams Family (Morticia), Curtains (Georgia), and Into the Woods (Lucinda). Julia would like to thank her academic and arts teachers, her friends, family and mother for their support in her performing career.
Your 2017 Mini Star Alternates:
Maddie Dick is an eighth grader at Dorseyville Middle School. She has been a student at Pittsburgh CLO Academy for eight years. Past CLO productions include Seussical the Musical (Mayzie La Bird), A Musical Christmas Carol (Belinda Cratchit) and The Little Mermaid (Flounder). Maddie is extremely excited to be a Pittsburgh CLO Mini Star alternate!
Jonathan Parker is thrilled to have this experience. Jonathan has been a student at Pittsburgh CLO Academy for five years and appreciates the opportunities it has given him. He recently appeared in Woodland Hills Musical Spamalot as Lancelot, he also was part of the Academy productions of Smile, Thoroughly Modern Millie and The Little Mermaid.
Mario Williams is ready to be a Pittsburgh CLo Mini Star Alternate! Mario has performed in many Pittsburgh CLO Academy productions as well as the CLO Mainstage productions of A Musical Christmas Carol and Mary Poppins. He most recently appeared as Young Will in Front Porch Theatrical's Big Fish. Thanks to his teachers and most of all his half dozen for everything they do to show their support and love!
- Open to any interested student entering 6th -12th grade who excels in any or all of the following areas is eligible to audition: acting, singing and dance.
- Mini Stars must represent the highest standard of excellence as an ambassador to the CLO including class attendance, talent, behavior, appearance, respect for others, and value of the program.
- Mini Stars Scholarships are determined through an audition process and an essay submission.
- Enrollment Requirements:
- Mini Stars receive a 100% tuition scholarship to attend the CLO Academy.
- Must register for four mandatory classes including (1) Ballet, (1) Jazz, (1) Audition Technique or Acting, and (1) additional Elective class of your choice (Acting, Dance or Voice).
- Mini Star Scholarship cannot be applied to private lessons or master classes.
- Mini Stars are required to participate in MT Production and all Master Classes at the Pittsburgh CLO Academy.
- Mini Stars are required to participate in professional performance opportunities, including but not limited to board meetings, private parties, and CLO special events and fundraisers.
- Mini Stars are required to assist and participate in professional development opportunities, including but not limited to social media promotions for Summer Season and various CLO shows, assist with the Gene Kelly Awards and appear at CLO community outreach events such as the Children’s Theater Festival, Great Race and Three Rivers Arts Festival.
- Must attend all mandatory rehearsals and performances.
Q: Do I have to pay to be a member of the Mini Star group?
A: No. On the contrary, all Mini Stars receive a 100% scholarship to classes at the Academy. Prospective Mini Stars must audition in August to be a part of this performing group.
Q: What classes must I take to maintain my Mini Star status?
A: A Mini Star must register for four mandatory classes including (1) Ballet, (1) Jazz, (1) Audition Technique or Acting, and (1) additional Elective class of your choice (Acting, Dance or Voice).
Q: Where do the Mini Stars perform?
A: The Mini Stars perform for school assemblies, private parties, park shows and other celebrations throughout the Tri-State area, and are present at Pittsburgh CLO shows, events, fundraisers, and community outreach opportunities.
