From Broadway legends Marvin Hamlisch and Howard Ashman, Smile chronicles the backstage troubles of the fictional 1985 California Young American Miss Beauty Pageant held in Santa Rosa, California. Featuring timeless songs such as "Disneyland," "Smile," and "In Our Hands," this rollicking comedy about drama onstage and off will have you "smiling" from ear to ear!

Olivia Allison (Toni) is a ninth grade dance major at Pittsburgh CAPA and is excited to be in another Pittsburgh CLO Academy performance and work with such amazing talent. She would like to thank her family teachers and friends for always supporting her. She dedicates this performance to her grandpa who is watching from Heaven.
Alexa Burak (Connie-Sue), a junior at Hopewell Senior High School, has appeared in her school productions Thoroughly Modern Millie (Mrs. Meers), Catch Me if You Can (Carol Strong), You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown (Lucy Van Pelt), Annie Jr. ( Mrs. Hannigan) and in The Strand Theater's production Big River (Ben Rodgers). Alexa is president of her class and a member of the NHS. Thanks to the cast, crew, and staff for such great experience!
Chelsea Calfo (Doria) is excited to be returning to the Pittsburgh CLO Academy stage in her sixth and final performance in Smile. She was last seen as Millie Dillmount in Thoroughly Modern Millie and as Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes. Chelsea is a senior Musical Theater major at Pittsburgh CAPA and a Pittsburgh CLO Mini Star. She would like to thank her family, Amy Staubnau, Diana Griffith, the Academy staff and the production team. A special thank you to Kiesha for giving us a safe and unique place to learn and grow, and to Patty for all of her unwavering support over the years. “To my peers, thank you for the many years of friendship, creativity and love. You've made my time at the academy worthwhile.”
Skylar Davidson (Brenda), a junior at North Allegheny Senior High School, is absolutely thrilled to be performing as Brenda Freelander in Smile. Some of her favorite past Pittsburgh CLO Academy credits include Carol Strong in Catch Me If You Can and Penelope Penniwise in Urinetown. Skylar is profoundly grateful for her wonderful CLO Academy teachers, crew and cast. She thanks her family for their unconditional love and for giving her endless support.
Maddie Dick (Carol) is an eighth grader at Dorseyville Middle School. She has been a student at Pittsburgh CLO Academy for eight years. Past CLO productions include Seussical the Musical (Mayzie La Bird), A Musical Christmas Carol (Belinda Cratchit) and The Little Mermaid (Flounder). Maddie is extremely excited to be performing in CLO's Fall Production of Smile!
Zoe Dunay (Kimberly) is thrilled to be in Smile! She is a fifth year Pittsburgh CLO Mini Star and has been in numerous Pittsburgh CLO Academy productions. Zoe's favorite credits include In The Heights (Nina) and Thoroughly Modern Millie (Alice). She is also a Junior Musical Theater Major at Pittsburgh CAPA. She has been in many CAPA shows, including Anything Goes (Purity) and Annie (Tessie). Zoe wishes to thank her family, instructors and friends for their constant love and support.
Emma Hackworth (Robin) is a junior at North Allegheny and is thrilled to be performing in her fourth Pittsburgh CLO Academy Fall Production! Her favorite credits include: Legally Blonde (Elle Woods), Little Shop of Horrors (Audrey) and Thoroughly Modern Millie (Miss Dorothy). She sends many thanks and much love to her family, friends and this amazing cast and crew!
Samantha Hawk (Danielle/Photographer/Ensemble; Student Director) is in her seventh and final show with Pittsburgh CLO Academy. Roles have ranged from Little Sally in Urinetown, Ida in Honk, Sour Kangaroo in Seussical to Mrs. Meers in Thoroughly Modern Millie. It's been quite a journey and she will miss the friends she's made.
Amanda Henry (Robin's Mom/Ensemble) is very excited to be in this cast of Smile. She is a freshman at Franklin Regional High School. She most recently appeared as Fiona in the Franklin Regional Middle School production of Shrek Jr. She has sang in the Pittsburgh Opera productions of Carmen and Turandot. She's been taking voice from the Noullet Voice Studio for four years. She hopes in the future to pursue a career in theater.
Victoria Huston (Shawn) is thrilled to be involved in her sixth Pittsburgh CLO Academy production. Favorite roles include Marta in The Sound of Music and young Eponine in Les Misérable at Pittsburgh CLO. Past credits with the CLO include Annie, Jesus Christ Superstar, Oliver, Joseph..., Oklahoma!, and Ruthless! (Tina Denmark u/s) at the CLO Cabaret. Victoria has completed her 12th year at Pittsburgh CLO Academy and enjoyed her years as CLO Mini Star. Special thanks to the cast, crew, Amy Stabnau, friends and family for all the wonderful support.
Taylor Javens (Louise/Parent/Ensemble) is a senior at Blackhawk High School and is excited to be in her first Pittsburgh CLO Academy musical! She has been in productions of The Little Mermaid, The Phantom of the Opera and The Addams Family in which she won a Mancini Award for Outstanding Noteworthy Group. She dances competitively at Stage West Performing Arts Center and is also a BHS cheerleader. Taylor wishes her cast the best of luck in Smile!

Allison Joyce (Valerie) is thrilled to be in her fourth Fall Production as well as her 10th year at Pittsburgh CLO Academy. Some of her past credits include Beauty and the Beast (Silly Girl #1/ dance corps), Thoroughly Modern Millie (Rita) and Into the Woods (Little Red). She would like to thank the cast and crew for their hard work on such an amazing show.
Rylan Kadlecik (Linda Lee), a junior at Montour High School, has appeared in school productions Anything Goes and Young Frankenstein. Rylan is enjoying her fourth year at Pittsburgh CLO Academy and is a member of the CLO Mini Stars. At the CLO Academy, Rylan performed in Catch Me If You Can (Featured Dancer) and Thoroughly Modern Millie (Muzzy). Rylan would like to thank her family and friends for their love and support.
Emily Kruczek (Parent/Judge/Ensemble) is delighted to be in her second Fall Production with Pittsburgh CLO Academy! Past roles include Sarah Brown (Guys and Dolls, Jr.), Dorothy Parker (Thoroughly Modern Millie), and the Star-To-Be (Annie, Jr.). Huge thanks to all that made this incredible show possible. Audrey Logan (Joanne) is a ninth grade student at South Fayette High School. Favorite roles include Belle in Beauty and the Beast, Rosie in Bye Bye Birdie, and Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls. She is a cantor and wedding singer for her church and enjoys playing the piano. She has been a student at Pittsburgh CLO Academy for two years and is excited for her first Fall Production with this amazing cast!
Caroline Lucas (Patti-Lynn) is very excited to be portraying the role of Patti-Lynn Bird in this year's production of Smile. Her past shows with Pittsburgh CLO Academy include Thoroughly Modern Millie, Catch Me if You Can and The Little Mermaid. Caroline attends North Allegheny High School and was most recently seen as Serena in Legally Blonde. She would like to thank her teachers at the CLO Academy and her family for their love and support!
Ciara McCarthy (Gina) is excited to be a part of Pittsburgh CLO Academy’s production of Smile. Ciara has appeared in Thoroughly Modern Millie (Ensemble), Catch Me if You Can (Teri) and Footloose (Ensemble) at the CLO Academy. Her past roles at Hopewell High School include Thoroughly Modern Millie (Gloria), Catch Me if You Can (Paula Abagnale), You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown (Peppermint Patty) and Annie Jr. (Annie). Thanks to her friends, family and teacher for always supporting her.
Paige Nelson (Kate) is a sophomore at Pine Richland High School. She has been involved with many great musicals but her favorite was this year's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Pine Richland where she played the role of narrator and was honored to be nominated as best actress in this year's Pittsburgh CLO Gene Kelly Awards. Paige can't wait to perform in her very first Pittsburgh CLO Academy Production of Smile with all of its talented cast members!
Felicia Niebel (Debralee) is thrilled to be performing again with Pittsburgh CLO Academy. She has been a student for eight years at the CLO Academy. Felicia is proud to be a Mini Star and represent the Academy. She has appeared in several productions on the main stage with the CLO and has done many community productions. Felicia is thankful for her family, friends, and teachers who support her dreams.
Jonathan Parker (Emcee) is thrilled to be a part of the cast of Smile. Jonathan has been a student at Pittsburgh CLO Academy for five years and appreciates the opportunities it has given him. He recently appeared in Woodland Hills Musical Spamalot as Lancelot, he also was part of the Academy productions of Thoroughly Modern Millie and The Little Mermaid. Jonathan would like to thank Jason and Alivia for being an amazing team and putting their all into the show.
Rhiannon Passmore (Sandra-Kay) is an 11th grade theater student at Pittsburgh CAPA and has studied at Pittsburgh CLO Academy since she was 7. Most recently, she performed in CAPA's Anything Goes as an Angel and the CLO Academy's Thoroughly Modern Millie in the Ensemble. She has also performed in CLO main stage productions such as Annie, Oliver and Jesus Christ Superstar. She is super excited to be in this show and thanks her mom for being the best.
Evan Pietrzak (Freddy) is thrilled to be performing in Smile! He was most recently seen in You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown (Charlie Brown), Little Shop of Horrors (Seymour Krelborn), Legally Blonde (JetBlue Pilot/Carlos), In The Heights (Piragua Guy) and in the Wexford Acting Studio's Summer Intensive Program Showcase. He thanks his family, friends and all cast and crew members for a great experience.
Jordan Ploskina (Tommy French) is thrilled to be a part of this production! Jordan has many experiences in musical theatre performing since the age of 7. His favorite roles include: Seussical (Horton), Beauty and the Beast (Gaston, Lefou), All Shook Up (Dennis), The Addams Family (Lucas), Into the Woods (Jack), Bye Bye Birdie (Harvey Johnson), 9 to 5 (Josh), The Music Man (Charlie Cowell), The Wiz (The Wiz) and many more! Jordan Stosic (Dale Wilson-Shears) is elated to be performing in his fourth and final show at Pittsburgh CLO Academy. Previously seen in the CLO Academy productions of In The Heights (Sonny) and Thoroughly Modern Mille (George Gershwin). Jordan would like to thank everyone at the Academy for the constant love and support shown to him. Halle Surgil (Dana; Dance Captain) is thrilled to be performing in Pittsburgh CLO Academy's production of Smile. A returning CLO Mini Star, previous CLO Academy Productions include Anything Goes, Catch Me If You Can and Thoroughly Modern Millie. Halle was honored to win a best supporting actress Henri Mancini award this year in Freeport's Cinderella as Charlotte. She has performed in Pittsburgh CLO productions of Annie, Gypsy and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Halle thanks her family, friends and teachers for their support!
Christina Trocchio (Cookie) is excited to be a part of Smile with such an amazing cast and creative team! Past shows include: Thoroughly Modern Millie, Footloose, Catch Me If You Can, Anything Goes and The Addams Family. Christina has had the honor of being nominated as a Best Supporting Actress twice at the Pittsburgh CLO Gene Kelly Awards. Much love to her family for all of their support!
Lucia Williams (Heidi) is always thrilled to be part of Pittsburgh CLO Academy productions. She has been a student at the CLO Academy for six years and is a CLO Mini Star. She has been in numerous CLO mainstage productions as well as her high school musicals, most recently the Gene Kelly-nominated show In the Heights. She wants to thank Amy for her love and guidance and all of her teachers here at the CLO Academy. Much love to her family…especially to Anthony and Sofia. SMILE always!
Mario Williams (Little Bob) is ready to jump onto the stage in Smile. He is very excited to work under the direction of Jason Coll. Mario has performed in many Pittsburgh CLO Academy productions as well as CLO Mainstage productions such as A Musical Christmas Carol and Mary Poppins. He most recently appeared as Young Will in Big Fish. Thanks to his teachers and most of all his half dozen for everything they do to show their support and love!
Julia Zoratto (Maria) is thrilled to be opening her final Pittsburgh CLO Academy production as Maria! In addition to classes at the CLO Academy and being a CLO Mini Star, in Julia's 11 years at the CLO Academy she has performed in Into the Woods (Florinda), Anything Goes (Ensemble), Catch Me If You Can (Featured Dancer) and Thoroughly Modern Millie (Pearl Lady). Past credits include starring in Prime Stage Theater's productions of The Perks of Being a Wallflower (Sam) and The Devil's Arithmetic (Hannah Stern) and Shady Side Academy's The Addams Family (Morticia), Curtains (Georgia), Macbeth (Assistant Director) and Into the Woods (Lucinda).
