A Musical Christmas Carol

What: Auditions for A MUSICAL CHRISTMAS CAROL.

Where: CLO Academy - 130 CLO Academy Way - 8th Floor - 15222

When: October 14, 2016, 11am – 7pm  (break from 4-5pm)

Please note that local performers are preferred. No Housing, Travel or Per diem is available for this production.

 

Seeking:   BOTH EQUITY AND NON-EQUITY MEN ARE WELCOME. Age 18+

Peter Cratchit: Late teens. Puckish. Horatio Alger type. Hopeful and hardworking.

Topper: 20s. Buffoonish friend of Fred.

Carolers (2): Seeking male singers, adept with small roles.

(All female roles have been cast.)

 

Requirements:

Head shot and resume stapled together. Prepare two 16 bars cuts (one up-tempo and one ballad). We may only ask to hear one. Bring legible sheet music in the appropriate key; an accompanist will be provided.

CLO Cabaret

What: Auditions for PUMP BOYS & DINETTES, written and conceived by John Foley, Mark Hardwick, Debra Monk, Cass Morgan, John Schimmel, and Jim Wann. Directed by Benjamin Endsley Klein, music direction by Isaac Harlan, and choreography by Kiesha Lalama.

The production will begin rehearsals on Monday, January 9, 2017. Performances will run from Thursday, January 26, 2017 to Sunday, April 16, 2017. Possible extension through Sunday, April 30, 2017.

Seeking:
The show is performed in a comfortable, yet musically precise style that emphasizes virtuosity, range, and character.

The four Pump Boys play instruments to a high professional level throughout, and the Cupp Sisters join in on percussion plus other instruments as able.

All musicians should be able to improvise very well in a country/blues style. Actors who can play multiple instruments are highly desirable. Possible instruments include: Guitar, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, ukelele, accordion, and various percussion (tamb, shakers, also found objects/props onstage).

Characters:

Jim (Male, 25-50). Co-owner of the gas station, charming, calm and likable. The main narrator of the night, must be able to comfortably interact with the audience. Must be an excellent singer and rhythm guitar player.

L.M. (Male, 25-50). Longtime friend and coworker of Jim, the most attractive of the pump boys. Women love him, but he’s suspicious of their affection and has eyes only for Dolly Parton. Must have a strong country voice and play piano.

Jackson (Male, 25-50). Gas station employee, clean-cut, ladies’ man. Must have strong rock/folk voice and play guitar. Multiple instruments – harmonica, mandolin, etc. – a plus.

Eddie (Male, 25-50). Silent presence with brief, comedic interactions. Baritone, plays electric guitar and bass.

Rhetta Cupp (Female, 25-50). No-nonsense and hardworking, the co-owner and operator of the Double Cupp diner. Strong country singer. Plays percussion.

Prudie Cupp (Female, 25-50). Rhetta’s younger sister, charming, fun, full of life. Strong country singer. Plays percussion.

Requirements/Preparation:

  • Headshot and resume stapled together
  • Completed Audition Application
  • Photo ID
  • Prepare:
    • 16 bars of a comic or upbeat country song - and accompany ypurself if you play an instrument (guitar, piano, bass, accordian, etc).

    • 16 bars of a second country song song during which you will be accompanied by a pianist. Please bring sheet music.

  • Please Note:

    • All parts will be on AEA SPT contract. In addition, EMC and non-union members who meet the requested role requirements may audition.

    • No housing, transportation or per diem for out-of-area performers
